ART DIRECTOR

Position Location: Hybrid/York, PA
Hours: Full-Time |8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday
Scope: The Art Director plays a strategic and creative role in the development of sophisticated and impactful design solutions across both print and digital formats. This position requires a high level of conceptual thinking, technical execution, and cross-functional collaboration. The Art Director not only drives design excellence across a diverse portfolio of association clients but also supports new business initiatives. The Art Director contributes to creative strategy and quality control ensuring that all work meets both brand standards and client expectations. This role calls for consistent, proactive engagement during business hours to support seamless coordination and dependable follow-through.
Essential Functions

- Serve as the design lead on high-profile projects, guiding visual concepts from discovery through execution with minimal oversight.
- Support new business efforts by contributing to pitches, creative samples, and proposal strategy sessions.
- Collaborate with internal teams and clients to translate goals and messaging into compelling visual communications.
- Champion best practices in design, digital content delivery, and brand consistency, setting a high standard for the creative team.
- Proactively manage timelines and workloads, flagging risks and solutions to ensure on-time delivery of high-quality creative assets.
- Guide final production of both print and digital projects, ensuring technical precision and visual excellence.
- Encourage innovation and adaptability, exploring new tools, formats, and channels to expand the creative team’s capabilities.
- Demonstrate consistent professionalism and availability during standard business hours in alignment with company expectations for remote and hybrid employees.
- Participate in discussions regarding team process improvements, creative standards, and departmental growth opportunities.
Education:
- A four-year bachelor’s degree in design, advertising, or communications is preferred.
- A high school diploma or GED is required.
Skills & Experience:
- Have at least two years of experience as an Art Director and four years in a Senior Graphic Design role, or the equivalent.
- Apply effective principles and techniques of design, including print and digital publications, web design, and other fixed and reflowable formats.
- Establish and maintain a reputation for innovation and creativity.
- Stay informed of the latest creative trends.
- Maintain knowledge of production skills.
- Apply the latest techniques in new media and technology.
- Understand and apply text edits from clients with an eye for detail.
- Mastery of Microsoft Office products on Mac and PC platforms, Adobe Acrobat, InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
- Knowledge of pre-flight and printing specifications.
- Teamwork and collaboration—give full attention to detail, team, client meetings and discussions; ensure accuracy and understanding of expected tasks and objectives.
- Excellent communication skills— Strong writing ability with command of appropriate grammar, style, vocabulary, and proofreading ability. Demonstrates confidence and articulate public speaking and presentation skills in live and remote virtual environments.
- Strong organizational skills—demonstrates a systematic approach in conducting assignments to lead and keep project delivery on target. Great attention to detail.
- Ability to multi-task—manages multiple tasks at one time; quickly and accurately shifts attention among multiple tasks under distracting conditions without loss of accuracy or appearance of frustration.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
