Position Location: York, PA/Hybrid/Remote
Hours: Full-Time, Monday – Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Other hours as needed.
Scope: The Director, Business Development is tasked with crafting a strategic plan to develop a robust pipeline of new business opportunities. They will oversee a blend of inbound and outbound marketing initiatives and may lead GregoryScott’s pitch process to secure new clients, alongside the VP, Client Engagement. They will remain well-connected externally and thoroughly understand the Marketing Technology landscape. The Director, Business Development should be comfortable with cold-calling and finding new opportunities. The focus should be on new client acquisition, rather than cultivating existing relationships.

- This role manages all administration and the end-to-end new business process, including:
- The RFP and RFI process
- Coordination of all pitch materials and collaboration with other YGS team members to deliver a winning pitch
- Will work with:
- External: Prospective Clients at CEO, Founder, and senior leadership level, Chief Marketing Officer, Chief Digital Officer, and Procurement.
Internal: Reporting to the VP, Client Engagement, the Director, Business Development works with the Marketing Manager to ensure that all new efforts are supported with content and strategies to aid efforts.
Partnership with GAVIN’s Growth Director to collaborate on projects with the GAVIN team.
- External: Prospective Clients at CEO, Founder, and senior leadership level, Chief Marketing Officer, Chief Digital Officer, and Procurement.
- Co-creating the agency’s new business strategy for the fiscal year and presenting it to senior leadership for approval.
- Developing a plan for targeting the desired client list.
- Growth may come from net new business in new sectors or organic growth. They identify opportunities for potential growth:
- In new categories
- From current clients (currently working with other YGS business units)
- Via innovation (product, services, offering)
- Represents the agency as the first point of contact for prospective clients; understanding their needs and objectives and presenting to the leadership team.
- Managing and completing detailed prospective Requests for Information (RFIs) and Requests for Proposals (RFPs).
- Supports the refinement and roll-out of the agency’s new business development process. Manage the new lead capture process, qualifying and prioritizing opportunities.
- Tracking GregoryScott’s wins and losses (utilizing Salesforce), review performance, conversion rate and costs.
- Using an innovative approach to data analytics to target new clients with highly personalized solutions and messages, improving response and conversion rates substantially and dramatically improving ROI.
- Analyzing and managing the new business budgets and financial information to make informed decisions.
- Leading and owning the business development plan.
- Developing and maintaining current knowledge of the Marketing Automation landscape and competitive activity.
- Presenting the GregoryScott’s USP and positioning GS to maximum effect.
- Influencing prospective client engagement.
- Identifying event opportunities to target prospective clients.
- Accountable for oversight and administration of SOC 2 controls within the area of responsibilities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Attendance of meetings and YGS-related events will be required, as needed.
- Required travel up to 40%.
Education:
- A High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or a relevant field with at least 5 years of business development experience.
Skills & Experience:
- Proven track record in new business development and income generation.
- Highly skilled in relationship management.
- Proven ability to identify prospects, respond to prospects, and support the team in converting prospects into clients.
- Ability to understand GregoryScott’s financial model.
- Highly collaborative with experience in working with internal cross-functional teams.
- Strong influencing ability and gravitas for internal and external engagement. Ability to establish and build empathetic and professional relationships.
- Must be well-versed in GregoryScott’s products and services, with the ability to present them effortlessly to prospective clients.
- Experienced in assessing a client brief to determine a match between the client’s objectives and GregoryScott’s capability to deliver.
- Knowledge of GregoryScott’s competitors and their market position.
- Experienced strategic thinker with the ability to undertake strategic planning.
- The ability to stay calm and focused under elevated levels of pressure.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, Project, One Note, and Word.
