Digital Bindery Operator

Position Location: 
York, Pa.
Full-Time 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM | Sunday – Thursday

The individual in this role operates digital bindery equipment to produce digital materials for the organization.

Essential Functions: 
  1. Read and interpret job ticket information to determine operations to be performed.
  2. Question inconsistent or missing information from job ticket, before beginning job.
  3. Review quality-checklist from previous departments to ensure consistency before performing daily operations. 
  4. Set up and operate bindery equipment according to job specifications.
  5. Maintain a continuous quality check throughout operations.
  6. Perform maintenance on bindery equipment, as scheduled.
  7. Maintain a high degree of motivation and morale, departmental, and inter-departmental cooperation.
  8. Maintain and comply with policies, procedures, and practices relating to bindery operations and job duties.
  9. Ensure that all related equipment is in proper working condition.
  10. Follow all required safety procedures such as PPE, ergonomics, chemical hazards, etc.
  11. Perform job in a manner that protects the health and safety of all employees
  12. Assist with general housekeeping in the area of the facility related to the bindery operations.
  • Associate degree in graphic communications or related field, preferred.
  • High school diploma or GED, required.
  • Prior bindery experience preferred.
  • Mechanical aptitude a must.
  • Basic math skills required.
  • Knowledge of printing specifications a plus.
  • High level of initiative and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
  • Strong organization and time management skills required.  
  • Flexible team player.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Work well under pressure.
  • Ability to maintain a fast pace.
  • Able to work with a sense of urgency.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
Physical Requirements: 
  • The individual hired for this role will be required to stand for the entirety of their shift.
  • The individual in this position needs to move around inside the manufacturing areas to complete work as assigned. The individual works in manufacturing area regularly.
  • Regularly operates a computer and bindery equipment as assigned.   
  • Position may operate additional equipment such as hand truck, pallet jacks, etc., as needed to move materials within work area.
  • Lifting weight up to 20 pounds, but potentially as much as 50 pounds regularly.
  • May carry weight, lift (to a height of 3–4 feet), transfer, position, or remove materials up to 20 pounds regularly.
  • Will use fingers, hands, and arms to feel, grasp, handle, push, pull, lift, lower, and position objects and/or materials as needed.
  • Will use feet and legs to walk, climb stairs or ladders, balance, ascend, and descend as needed to complete work assignments.
  • Must see, detect, determine, perceive, identify, recognize, judge, observe, inspect, estimate, and assess information as needed.
  • Must communicate, listen, hear, speak, converse with, and/or convey information as needed. 
  • The person in this position frequently communicates with coworkers, to complete work assignments. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • Temperatures are regulated through systems. 
  • Environment is considered to contain medium to high noise levels.
  • Environment is not regularly exposed to extreme changes in temperatures or weather conditions.
  • Will attend meetings and YGS-related events as needed.
  • Complete trainings as required. 
  • Overtime as dictated by the needs of the business.
